What is DNL Reader?
It's a plug-in needed to view e-brochure in DNL
format. This format presents pure data file, so that it is virus
proof. On the other hand EXE format requires nothing to view.
Everything required is packed in the e-brochure itself. Just a mouse
double click is enough. But a lot of users do not want or cannot
receive EXE format as it is intercepted by various firewalls and
antivirus programmes.
There’s no need for fear because our e-publications are tested against
infection several times before they are put on the website or
e-mailed. If you still have doubts about EXE format, then you can
use ZIP format which is compressed EXE format.
DNL Reader is free and is downloaded automatically to user’s disc when
the first attempt is made to open the e-brochure in DNL format. Size
of download is 952 KB, which is negligible in comparison with other
viewers of e-publications (Adobe Reader e.g. is
20.3 MB which is approx. 20
times more).
DNL Reader is installed only once.

Outlook keeps rejecting e-brochure (.EXE) as attachment. What can I
do?
It is common
situation when Outlook warns that the attachment in the EXE form can
be of suspicious contents or a virus. Although e-brochure in the EXE
form cannot be infected, you can solve the problem in 3 ways:
1. Send e-brochure as attachment in form of
DNL file, which presents no problem to antivirus protection and
firewalls. To view e-brochure in this form DNL Reader is required,
which is available for free and installs automatically when we try
to open the e-brochure for the first time. Reader is very small;
installation takes less than 2 minutes. Once it is installed,
there’s no need for reinstallation later on.
2. You can compress e-brochure using WinZip
programme. So you get ZIP file that presents no problem when
sent as attachment.
3. In e-mail you indicate link to e-brochure
that is on the web. That way the users have the possibility to
view the e-brochure on the website itself or download it to their
disc to view it at peace without being connected to internet.
Top of page
Can users of Mac computers browse through e-brochure on the website
itself?
No, unless they use PC emulator (e.g. Virtual PC). Function is at the
stage of implementation.
Top of page
What kind of protection is offered by e-brochure?
Of course it was also taken care of protection and safety that is so
important in these "virus" days. It's logical
and absolutely necessary.
Basically the content of the
e-brochure is maximally protected, so that copy/paste is not
available.
Thus it is possible to lock various functions of e-brochure, so that
e.g. printing of contents, download to the user's disc, e-mailing,
is not possible. It is
possible to protect them additionally by enabling or disabling the
following functions:
• Print
• Send Mail
• Protection against viewing (password is required)
• Saving to the user's disc (Save As)
In case that sending of EXE format is a problem, e-brochure can be
compressed into ZIP file, or sent in data format (DNL) that by no means
can contain a virus. After all distribution is not needed at all since
the users can view the brochure on the website. In an extreme case
e-brochure can be additionally protected by a digital certificate to
achieve the protection level of up-to-date e-operations of today.
